Operation Lifesaver Snowmobile Clip Debuts on YouTube

(Washington, DC – February 8, 2010)  Just in time for the Mid-Atlantic’s historic snowstorm, Operation Lifesaver, the nonprofit rail safety group, launched its “Snowmobile Fun” short video on YouTube at http://bit.ly/cF8EC2

“As the snow piles up around the country, snowmobile riders are tempted to ride on the plowed railroad tracks,” said Operation Lifesaver President Helen Sramek.  “This video uses humor to reach this unique audience with an important safety message: “Ride the Trails, Stay Off the Tracks.”

In the wake of near hits and collisions between trains and snowmobile riders, Operation Lifesaver is using the power of YouTube to remind snowmobilers to avoid train tracks.

The snowmobile clip features two riders faced with a choice:  take the snowmobile trails or turn onto the railroad tracks.  The snowman registers a charcoal frown and a safety message.  The two key messages: “Cross tracks at the crossbuck.  Ride the trails, not the rails.”
