School Bus Drivers

School bus drivers have the important task of transporting young people nationwide from home to school and back again. Operation Lifesaver has developed training tools to educate school bus drivers on safe procedures for navigating highway-rail grade crossings along their routes:

 

 

School Bus Statistics

From 1994 through 2004, there were 31 highway-rail grade crossing collisions involving school buses in the United States. Those incidents resulted in 111 injuries and 13 fatalities. (Federal Railroad Administration statistics)
